Typical payment timelines
Payment type |
Typical arrival time |
Notes |
| Local rail payments | Same day to next business day | Depends on the rail and cut-off time for that corridor |
| SWIFT payments | 1 to 5 business days | Correspondent banks may add processing time |
| Payments under review | Add 1 to 2 business days | Payment is dispatched only after review is complete |
| Payments awaiting more information | Paused until information is provided | Respond to any requests promptly to avoid delays |
What can delay a payment
Several factors can cause a payment to take longer than the typical timeframe:
- Public holidays in the sending or receiving country
- Bank cut-off times - payments submitted after the daily cut-off are processed on the next business day
- Compliance review - some payments are held for additional checks before dispatch
- Incorrect recipient details - payments with errors may be rejected or returned by the recipient bank
- Correspondent bank handling - SWIFT payments may pass through intermediary banks, each of which may add processing time
Frequently Asked Questions
My payment shows as completed but the recipient has not received it yet. Why?
"Completed" means Reap has successfully dispatched the payment to the recipient's bank. The recipient's bank may still need additional time to process and credit the funds. Allow 1 to 2 business days after the completed status appears before following up.
Can a payment arrive the same day?
Some local rail payments may arrive the same day if submitted before the cut-off time for that corridor. SWIFT payments are not eligible for same-day arrival.
How long does SWIFT typically take?
SWIFT payments generally take between 1 and 5 business days, depending on the destination country and the correspondent banks involved.
My payment has been under review for more than 2 business days. What should I do?
Contact our support team with your payment reference number, recipient name, amount, currency, and the date you submitted the payment. We will look into this for you.
Can I get proof that a payment reached the recipient bank?
You can request payment confirmation from our support team. Please provide your payment reference and we will assist you.
