Overview
Before you can send a payment, you need to save the bank account details of the person or company you are paying. Reap calls these saved accounts recipients. This article explains how to add a new recipient from the Reap dashboard.
Finding the Recipients page
In the left sidebar, go to Payments and click Recipients. If you have not added any recipients yet, you will see an empty state with a + New Recipient button in the centre of the page.
Adding a new recipient
Step 1: Select the recipient currency
Click + New Recipient. A panel will open on the right side of the screen with the title New recipient and the subtitle "Add a new bank account to send payments to."
The first thing you need to do is choose the currency the recipient will receive funds in. Click the Select a currency dropdown and search or scroll to find the right currency. Supported currencies include AED, AUD, CAD, CHF, CNY, EUR, GBP, HKD, IDR, and more.
Step 2: Choose the recipient type
After selecting a currency, choose whether the recipient is a Personal or Company account. Use the toggle at the top of the Recipient account details section to switch between the two.
The form fields adjust slightly depending on the type you select:
| Type | Account holder name field |
|---|---|
| Personal | First name and Last name (two separate fields) |
| Company | Company name (single field) |
Make sure the name you enter exactly matches the name on the recipient's bank account. Reap can only transfer funds to a bank account with the registered account holder name.
Step 3: Fill in the bank account details
Complete the following fields under Recipient account details:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Name of bank account holder | Must match the name registered on the recipient's bank account exactly |
| Bank name | The name of the recipient's bank |
| SWIFT code | The recipient bank's SWIFT or BIC code |
| Intermediate Bank SWIFT code | Optional. Required only if the payment routes through a correspondent bank |
| Routing number | Applicable for certain currencies and regions (e.g. USD payments to the US) |
| Branch code | The recipient bank's branch identifier, where applicable |
| Account number | The recipient's bank account number or IBAN |
Step 4: Fill in the recipient address details
Under Recipient address details, provide the recipient's registered address:
- Country / region (required)
- Recipient street address
- City
- State
- Postal code
Step 5: Create the recipient
Once all required fields are filled in, click Create at the bottom of the panel. The recipient will be saved to your Recipients list and will be available to select the next time you initiate a payment.
Frequently asked questions
Can I add the same bank account more than once?
Yes, but we recommend keeping your recipient list tidy to avoid confusion when selecting payees during a payment. If you have added the same account twice, you can remove the duplicate from the recipient's actions menu.
What if I do not know the recipient's SWIFT code?
You can usually find the SWIFT code on the recipient's bank statement, the bank's website, or by asking the recipient to check with their bank directly. The SWIFT code is required to process international payments.
When do I need an Intermediate Bank SWIFT code?
Some payments, particularly to certain regions, are routed through a correspondent or intermediary bank before reaching the recipient's bank. If your recipient advises you to include one, enter it in the Intermediate Bank SWIFT code field. If you are unsure, leave it blank and contact our support team for guidance.
Can I edit a recipient after saving them?
Yes. Go to Payments > Recipients, find the recipient in the list, and use the actions menu to edit their details. Note that changes to a recipient's details do not affect payments that have already been submitted.
Can I delete a recipient?
Yes. From the Recipients list, open the actions menu for the recipient you want to remove and select Delete. Deleting a recipient does not affect any completed payments made to that account.
