Product: Reap API (Payment API)
Who this is for: Operations teams responsible for keeping managed accounts funded.
What you will learn: How to move funds between your Treasury and a managed account in either direction, and where those transfers appear afterwards.
Overview
An internal transfer moves funds between your Treasury (Manager's account) and one of your managed accounts. Money stays inside your program throughout, and transfers arrive instantly.
Because every account holds its own segregated balance, a payment can only go out if the managed account making it has the funds. Internal transfers are how you put them there.
How do I transfer funds to a managed account?
- Go to Treasury (Manager's account) and find the currency you want to move.
- Select the transfer icon, next to that currency's Add funds button.
- In the side panel, search for the managed account you are sending to, by name or BUUID.
- Enter the amount to transfer. The panel shows your available Treasury balance at the bottom, so you can check you have enough before committing.
- Select Continue.
Both balances update immediately: down on the Treasury side, up on the managed account side.
How do I transfer funds back to the Treasury?
Transfers work the same way in reverse, starting from inside the managed account.
- Open the managed account and go to its Overview tab.
- Find the currency you want to move and select the transfer icon, next to that currency's Add funds button.
- Enter the amount to send back. The panel names the Treasury account receiving the funds, and shows that managed account's available balance.
- Select Continue.
- Review the summary, check the details are correct, and select Confirm.
Both balances update straight away.
This is typically used when offboarding a customer, or rebalancing funds sitting idle in one account that are needed elsewhere.
Can I fund payments without transferring first?
Yes. If a managed account runs short while a payment is being created, Use Manager Funds pulls the required amount from your Treasury automatically, with no manual transfer needed.
Enable it if you would rather not top up individual accounts ahead of every payment. It covers stablecoin balances only — a payment made from a fiat balance has to be funded from that account's own fiat balance.
Where do transfers appear?
Every internal transfer is recorded on both sides:
- In Treasury transactions, as an Internal Transfer entry naming the managed account
- In that managed account's Balance movements, as an Internal Transfer entry naming the Treasury account
Both lists can be filtered and exported, so a transfer can be traced from either end.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does an internal transfer take?
It is instant. Both balances update as soon as you confirm.
How do I find the right managed account?
Search the side panel by account name or by BUUID.
How do I know I have enough to transfer?
The transfer panel shows your available balance for that currency at the bottom, before you confirm.
Do I have to transfer funds before every payment?
Not necessarily. Enabling Use Manager Funds lets a managed account pull from the Treasury automatically when it runs short, for stablecoin balances.
Can I send funds from one managed account directly to another?
Transfers run between the Treasury and a managed account. To move funds between two managed accounts, return them to the Treasury first and send them out again.
