Who this is for: Businesses that have submitted a Reap Direct application and are waiting for their KYB review to complete.
What this article covers: What happens during KYB review, how long it typically takes, what can cause delays, and how to speed things up.
Overview
KYB (Know Your Business) is the compliance review Reap carries out before activating your account. The time it takes depends on how complete your submission is and how complex your business structure is.
When you submit your Reap Direct application, the compliance team reviews your business documents, verifies your ownership structure, and may request additional information. Your account is not activated until this review is fully complete and approved.

What happens during KYB review
Once your application is submitted, Reap's compliance team reviews your business documents and verifies your identity and ownership structure. If they need more information, they will send a Request for Information (RFI) to your registered email address.
Responding to any RFI quickly and completely is the single most effective way to keep your review on track.
For businesses with more complex ownership structures or those in higher-risk categories, the review may also include Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD). This is a more thorough verification process and takes additional time.
KYB timelines are subject to regulatory requirements and Reap's risk assessment process. Reap cannot guarantee a specific approval timeline.
What can delay your review
The most common reasons a KYB review takes longer than expected:
- Documents are missing, expired, or illegible
- Your business has a complex ownership structure that requires additional verification
- Your business type or jurisdiction requires Enhanced Due Diligence
- Responses to RFI follow-up requests are slow or incomplete
- Required identity verification steps, such as liveness checks, have not been completed
How to avoid delays
- Submit all required documents at the same time, rather than in stages
- Make sure every file is current, clearly legible, and in PDF or image format
- Provide certified translations for any non-English documents
- Complete any required identity verification steps, such as a liveness check, as soon as you are prompted
- Monitor your email for RFI notifications from the compliance team and respond promptly
Frequently Asked Questions
My review has been running for a while and I have not heard anything. What should I do?
Contact the support team with your company name and application reference number. They can check the current status and let you know if anything is still outstanding.
I responded to an RFI. How do I know it was received?
You should receive an acknowledgment from the compliance team. If you do not hear back within one business day, contact support to confirm your documents were received.
Can I use my Reap account while KYB is still under review?
No. Your account is activated only after KYB review is fully approved.
What happens if my KYB application is not approved?
Reap will notify you by email. The level of detail that can be shared about the outcome may be limited by regulatory requirements.
Do I need to resubmit my entire application if a document was rejected?
No. You do not need to restart the full application. The compliance team will send an RFI specifying exactly which documents need to be resubmitted or corrected.
How will I know when my KYB review is complete?
You will receive an email notification once your application has been reviewed. When approved, your Reap account will be activated and ready to use.
