Product: Reap API (Payment API)
Who this is for: Businesses running a payments program on Reap, and the operations teams responsible for keeping managed accounts funded.
What you will learn: The two ways to fund a managed account, stablecoins or local currency, what to check before you send, and how long funds take to arrive.
Overview
Each managed account holds its own balances and has its own dedicated deposit details. Funding is done per account, and there are two routes:
- Stablecoins. Deposit USDC or USDT to an address unique to that account and network.
- Local currency. Open a fiat balance and fund it by bank transfer to a virtual account unique to that managed account.
Both are covered below. A balance with nothing in it shows a Top up needed badge.
Funding with stablecoins
⚠️ Two things to get right before you send anything.
- Always copy the wallet address from the dashboard at the moment you send. Funds sent to the wrong address cannot be recovered.
- The minimum deposit is USD 2.00. Anything below that is treated as dust and will not be credited.
- Open the managed account you want to fund and go to the Overview tab.
- Find the currency you want to deposit, USDC or USDT, and select Add funds.
- Choose the network you will send on. The address you are given is specific to that currency and network, so this choice has to match what you actually send.
- The dashboard displays a wallet address unique to this account. Copy it directly rather than reusing one you saved earlier.
- Read the conditions shown beneath the address before transferring.
- Send the funds.
Nothing needs confirming from your side. Deposits are credited automatically once the network settles them, and how long that takes depends on the network you chose:
| Network | Typical time to appear |
|---|---|
| Faster networks such as Tron or Polygon | A few minutes |
| Ethereum | Around 30 minutes |
If you are funding an account to release a payment that is waiting, the network you pick is the difference between a few minutes and half an hour.
Funding with local currency
You can also fund payments in local fiat currency rather than stablecoins. Each fiat balance is funded by bank transfer into a virtual account issued for that managed account specifically.
Opening a currency balance
- On the managed account's Overview tab, select Open new balance.
- Choose the currency you want to open.
- The system provisions your virtual account in the background. This takes a few seconds.
Once opened, the new balance appears alongside your stablecoin balances.
Funding the balance
Select Add funds under the new fiat balance. The dashboard returns the details you need for the transfer: the company name, bank name, bank code or SWIFT code, and account number.
Because the account number is unique to your managed account, no transfer reference is required.
⚠️ Fiat deposits must be first-party transfers. Funds must come from a bank account registered under the exact same legal business name as the managed account. A transfer from any other account name cannot be matched and will not be accepted.
Deposits settle over local clearing networks, so they arrive quickly: typically within about five minutes on FPS for HKD or CHATS for USD.
Each currency has its own maximum per-transfer limit. Check the "Things to note" panel in the dashboard before sending a large transfer.
Where deposits appear
Once credited, a deposit appears in the account's Balance movements as a Fund in entry, alongside the payments going out. That list can be filtered and exported.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which currencies can I fund with?
USDC and USDT as stablecoins, or a local currency balance you open yourself.
Can I reuse a deposit address from last time?
Copy the address from the dashboard each time you send. Addresses are specific to an account, a currency and a network, and funds sent to the wrong address cannot be recovered.
I sent a small amount of stablecoin and it never appeared.
Check the amount. The minimum deposit is USD 2.00, and anything below that is treated as dust and is not credited.
My bank transfer has not been credited.
The most likely cause is that it was not a first-party transfer. Fiat deposits have to come from a bank account in the exact same legal business name as the managed account, and anything else cannot be matched.
What reference should I quote on a bank transfer?
None is needed. The virtual account number is unique to your managed account.
How long should I wait before worrying?
For stablecoins it depends on the network: a few minutes on Tron or Polygon, around 30 minutes on Ethereum. Fiat deposits over FPS or CHATS typically arrive within about five minutes.
A managed account is short on fiat for a payment. Can it pull from the manager account?
No. Use Manager Funds covers stablecoin balances only. Fund the fiat balance directly.
Do I need to tell anyone at Reap that I have sent funds?
No. Deposits are attributed automatically and appear as a Fund in entry in Balance movements.
