Before you start
- You must be an admin on the Reap account to freeze, unfreeze, or delete cards.
- These steps apply to both physical and virtual cards. The flow is identical for both card types.
- Freezing is temporary. It blocks new transactions but does not cancel the card or affect already-authorized charges.
- Deleting a card is permanent and cannot be undone. If you only want to pause spending, use the freeze option instead.
Freeze a card
Freezing a card immediately blocks all new transactions on that card. Use this if a card has been misplaced, if you suspect unauthorised activity, or if you need to pause a team member's spending.
Important: The freeze modal warns that recurring transactions will also be affected. If a recurring charge was not yet authorised at the time of freezing, it will be declined.
- Log in to your Reap dashboard at dashboard.reap.global.
- On the left sidebar, click Cards, then click Cards.
-
Click the card you want to freeze (physical or virtual).
- Select Freeze card.
-
When prompted, select a reason for freezing this card:
- Lost - use this if you are unable to locate your card and believe it may be misplaced or missing.
- Damaged - use this if your card is physically worn, broken, or unreadable and can no longer be used.
- Suspected fraud — use this if you believe the card has been compromised or used without authorisation.
- This card is no longer needed — use this to temporarily pause a card.
- Other — for any other reason.
- Click Continue.
- The card is frozen immediately. All new transactions on that card will be blocked.
Unfreeze a card
Unfreezing restores a card to active status instantly. No new card is issued. This works the same way for physical and virtual cards.
- Log in to your Reap dashboard at dashboard.reap.global.
- On the left sidebar, click Cards, then click Cards.
- Switch to the Inactive tab if you cannot see the frozen card in the Active tab.
- Click the frozen card.
- Select Unfreeze card.
Delete a card
Deleting a card is permanent. Once deleted, the card cannot be recovered and all associated card details are invalidated. Use this when a card is no longer needed and you want to free up a card slot on your account.
- Log in to your Reap dashboard at dashboard.reap.global.
- On the left sidebar, click Cards, then click Cards.
- Find the card you want to delete (physical or virtual).
- Select Delete card.
- Enter the reason for card deletion then click Continue.
- The card is permanently deleted and can no longer be used.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does freezing a card cancel pending transactions?
No. Transactions that were already authorized before the freeze will still process. Freezing only blocks new authorization requests from that point forward.
Will subscriptions and recurring charges still go through on a frozen card?
No. If a recurring charge was not yet authorized at the time of freezing, it will be declined. If you need to stop a specific subscription, contact the merchant directly.
Does a frozen card still count toward my account's card limit?
Yes. Frozen cards still occupy a card slot. To free up a slot, you must permanently delete the card instead of freezing it.
I unfroze a card but it is still being declined. Why?
Unfreezing restores the card to its previous state. If other spend controls were active - such as a category restriction or a spend limit - those will still apply. Check the card's spend settings in the dashboard, or contact support if the issue continues.
Can I freeze a physical card the same way as a virtual card?
Yes. The freeze and unfreeze flows are the same for both virtual and physical cards.
Can I undo a card deletion?
No. Deleting a card is permanent. If you only want to temporarily pause a card, use the freeze option instead.
